happy post!

No, nothing changed except it no longer feels like I swallowed a handful of bees (maybe just one bee now) and I can control the body aches with ibuprofen. Hooray!

The 4th of July was pretty cool. Admittedly, I don't get into parades, flag waving, crowds, enthusiasm, or exuberance of any kind so the 4th doesn't get me too excited. I like America and I like days where I am expected to stay home and cook meat outside but I will not usually seek out star spangled activities. However, Jeff and I now live in AmericaTown so we figured we should probably go do something patriotic. We waited until it was almost dark outside then rode bikes down to the Charles River where there were going to be fireworks launched from barges in the river. We sat on the steps of the Walker building, which was right in front of the barges. This was hands down the best fireworks show I have ever seen. The explosions were huge - like they took up the whole sky, they were well-planned (so that when they were launched they looked good together) and there were multiple mini-finales so it didn't just look like the pyrotechs got bored and wanted to go home so they lit the remainder of the fireworks at once. Honestly, I could have done without the music but then I heard Star Spangled Banner and the part about red glare came in and they launched a bunch of red fireworks. This is what is known as planning and the outcome is well worth it.

I took some pictures.

There were some 3D fireworks that if you weren't sitting at the right angle, they just looked like duds. I liked these the most because they reminded me that when things go perfectly, it looks easy and nobody appreciates how hard it really is.

Happy week after the 4th!
